Sukh Sagar Projects

In addition to the regular programs and services undertaken by Khalsa Diwan Society, New Westminster, we have developed a range of unique projects that our local Sangat and Sevadaars participate in and help organize.

These projects include the following, which more details on each can be found through this website:

1) Sunday Food Drive - serves meals in Vancouver's downtown eastside with Guru Nanak's Free Kitchen. Each Sunday approximately 800 meals are served.

2) Sant Teja Singh Scholarship Program - $16,000 a year awarded to 4 students that are going on to University.

3) Eat Well, Live Well - healthy eating program that promotes healthy Langar at home and at the Gurdwara Sahib 

4) Shaheed Bhai Mewa Singh - remembering the sacrifice made by Bhai Mewa Singh in Vancouver in 1915 through education programs.

5) Youth Camps - Five youth camps take place each year. For children we have a Spring Break, Summer and Winter camp. For Youth a Summer camp and for Adults a Naam Abhiyaas Samagam each December.

6) Sports Projects - Summer Basketball, Sports Day, Wrestling and Kabaddi each year. 

7) Turban Eduction - educating the public on the meaning of the Turban (Dastaar) and what it feels like to wear a Turban. Community and educational programs are held throughout the Lower Mainland each year.
